The Waterbury Chorale, under the direction of Joseph Jacovino, Jr., brings outstanding choral music to the Greater Waterbury area, while providing an opportunity for amateur and semi-professional singers to enjoy the performance of great musical literature. The Chorale, now in its 40th year, performs a wide range of repertoire, from established masterworks to varied programs of contemporary music and music from other cultures.
Rehearsals are in full swing preparing the Waterbury Chorale for its spring concert to be performed at the Shrine of Saint Anne as part of their Sacred Music Series on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 4:00 p.m.
Under the direction of Joseph J. Jacovino, the Chorale and the Waterbury Chorale Festival Orchestra will perform the “Gloria” by Francis Poulenc, “Te Deum”and “Lord Make Me an Instrument of Thy Peace” by John Rutter, “Agnus Dei” by Samuel Barber transcribed from the “Adagio for Strings”, Op.11, “O Bone Jesu” attributed to Giovanni Palestrina and other sacred works by Holst, Leavitt, and Mozart. The Chorale Chamber Singers will be featured in Samuel Barber’s “Chorale for Ascension Day”.
